SMART FOODS is now a Drop Off Location for Children’s Attention Home

childerens-attention-homeSMART FOODS is now a Drop Off Location for Children’s Attention Home in Rock Hill. In addition, Smart Foods will donate A FOOD ITEM with every multiple purchase of the same item. Please see this month’s needs listed below for Children’s Attention Home. Drop Off any of these items at 725 Crossroads Plaza. Remember to pass this message to all your friend.
Thank you for helping your local children and families in need.

“The Children’s Attention Home cares for children who vary in age, gender, and size. We cannot predict when children will enter or exit our care, and it is difficult to always have exactly what a child will need upon arrival. Your donation of a gift card will allow us to purchase clothing, shoes, and other special items to ensure that each child receives something personal.
We will accept gift cards from any stores, but most often, gift cards to Walmart, Target, Belk, and Kohl’s are most useful. The following items top our list of needs for the kids (Please note: due to regulatory and other considerations we can only accept new ‘in the box’ items):

1 – Bicycle Helmets (all sizes / genders)
2- Duffel bags or Suitcases
3- Face wash for teenagers
4- Women’s boy shorts or hipsters – size (5-7) Bras – all sizes (B&C)
5- Men’s boxers – size (M-XL)

Important Announcement!

We just wanted to let y’all know that the magazines are running late this April.  Due to an unforeseen circumstance, the magazines will arrive in homes after April 28.  Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Check out Bush-N-Vine

From their website:

bush-n-vineWe have been growing fresh fruits and vegetables here at the Bush-N-Vine since 1979. However, the Bush-N-Vine Farm has actually been in the Hall family for much longer—over 150 years! Originally the farm was solely a peach orchard. The building located on our farm in York, South Carolina was used as a peach packing shed in the 1950’s and 60’s. In 1979, Bob Hall reopened the doors using the space as an open air market. After graduating from Clemson University in 1980 Bob made farming his career. He has been selling delicious produce in the stand ever since. His hard work and dedication to farming are the reason Bush-N-Vine Farm is what it is today! In 2010, after graduating from Clemson University, Sam Hall joined forces with his dad and started working at the farm full-time. We hope that our family farm will continue providing our customers with the fresh produce they love for many years to come!

Community Spotlight – Foundation for Abused and Neglected Children of York County

The Foundation for Abused and Neglected Children of York County (FANCY) supports the needs of abused and neglected children in the court systems of York County and the court-appointed volunteers who are their guardian ad litems. The guardians are court appointed to protect the interests of minors or imcompetent in a particular matter. They are the voice of the children.
FANCY raises money to fund educational, extracurricular and learning opportunities for the abused and neglected children in the York County Family Court system. The group provides food, toiletries and financial assitance for families in crisis who are unable to get help from other sources in a timely manner.
The non-profit group provides volunteers the necessary training and/or assistance needed to represent the children. Viva Halcom of Tega Cay became a volunteer guardian ad litem five years ago and serves as the President of the Foundation. “During the holidays, FANCY often receives requests from the Department of Social Service  for gifts for children in Intensive Foster Treatment homes and other facilities. With the help of financial donors, we can help these children.
We can also provided a list of gift items if a donor would like  to shop for gifts for the children,” said Halcom. Credit Card donations, checks and other donations are welcome to help the children.
